Dwayne Morgan Intellectual Property
We've got to protect Our intellectual property, To stop the pirates From getting into our heads. I find myself Taking deep breaths Wanting to be refreshed By the things that I see And the music that I hear played, So I turn the dial Searching for fresh airwaves, But they all sound polluted. I try to find the art In some of these artists, But even that seems diluted, Especially in that genre That requires you to have a rap sheet, To be credible in the rap pages, And apparently, Record companies Have lost patience, With those who are downloading tracks, But what do they expect When most of their artists are wack. I mean, just ask Dr. Dre, He'll tell you that Truth Hurts, And that these artists aren't worth fifteen dollars, much less, Fifty Cent. Analyzing the music, Has my mind bent, On figuring out How, Bitch and black woman Became synonamous. To me, it's obvious, That they're trying to get Into out heads, And plant their messages deep, But what they're trying to feed me, They're going to have to keep. They've got us buying into this world of science and technology, which constantly produces products for us to consume, that they wouldn't use, and foods that they wouldn't eat. Slowly, This world is becoming cashless, Making it easier for them To monitor our moves Through our use of the plastic. They're always trying to bring us closer, By introducing technology that keeps us apart, And between the text messages, And the two-ways, I wonder if we'll still have a need to talk In the future; If we even get there. It's becoming increasingly Clear to me, How easily Propaganda becomes history, And it's hard to believe That my children Will learn about America's war with Iraq, Which really wasn't a war, Since Iraq was fighting back. Somebody seems to be changing the facts, Telling us about Saddam's Use of biological weapons On the people of Iraq, While failing to mention How America was built on our backs, How the U.S. government Injected Syphillis into blacks, Or how they introduced our communities to crack, Yet once again, America is trying to take over the world, And they've convinced themselves, That this is their duty. To be perfectly honest, This whole thing reminds me, Of that Disney movie, The Lion King. Think; Florida was betrayed by the butterflies Allowing Scar to rise out of Texas, With Powell, Fletcher, And the other hyenas Traveling the plain Providing the backbone For Scar's new game Using the media To alter the brains Of the other inhabitants On the terrain, Causing them not to see, That they are in need Of a 'Collin' cleansing; Being force fed Answers to questions That no one is asking. The hyena's keep masking the truth, By keeping the grass moving So that we can't see through The Bush's, As Scar pushes his way Towards world supremacy While we wait passively For Simba, The conquering lion Of the tribe of Judah To return And take his rightful place in the world, but in the meantime, our intellectual property remains in jeopardy, and we can't be giving in, in these times that we're living in, because they're investing in, getting into our minds, for once they can control those, our actions are next, so we've got to use our heads to reject anything that doesn't sit properly, keeping our minds clear to protect our intellectual property.
